Dave Cauvin

( Founder- Velocity55 )

An experienced senior aviation leader, with over 10 years at VP & Director level, Dave’s journey into Aviation started some 30 years ago when he began his  working life with what he thought would be a temporary job as an aircraft cleaner at London’s Gatwick Airport…moving on from that organisation 15 years later having worked his way through every role in the company, eventually to General Manager and with a very unique perspective on the aviation industry- both from the ground floor level right up to the view from the corporate leadership window. This set Dave up perfectly for the subsequent career that he is enjoying in this industry.

His aviation career has been in two halves. The first half being very much operational as moving on from his  first aviation company he joined a competitor (having been head hunted) in a Regional GM role progressing quickly to Director of Operations bringing his insight to the ‘top table’ with overall responsibility for the operational and financial performance of the company across 24 airport locations in UK and Ireland.

The second half of Dave’s career began as he moved into a commercial role with SITA leading consultancy services to worldwide airports & airport service organisations (Muscat Airport in Oman and ASIG in JFK as his major projects). In 2011 he joined Swissport, the largest global provider of ground services, eventually leading the UK Commercial Team as Commercial Director – UK & Ireland and subsequently into a global role as Vice President Global Accounts, working with a number of major airline customers across Europe, North America and North Africa, developing a strong connection between the Swissport team worldwide and leading collaborative, consistent global strategies.
Latterly as Commercial Director at ABM and part of the Executive Leadership Team, Dave lead a high performing team of Business Development Managers in creating unique and innovative strategies (particularly through the Covid pandemic) to increase the customer base and grow the business profitably.
Dave’s approach is very much built on a joint understanding between customer and business partner of being able to understand challenges and how they can be solved together- an ethos carried into Velocity55!
All through his career Dave has led teams, from his early days running a small team of cabin cleaners right through to managing high performing Business Development Teams and the principles remain the same- trust, clarity, alignment, commitment, accountability, and, of course, achieving results.
